Some of my professional training certificates and merit awards include:
- Insurance and Risk Management,

- Temporary Teaching Certificate, Edmonds Community College,

- Certified Travel Consultant,

- Leadership Training and Facilitation.
These courses have honed my skills in marketing and public relations, public speaking, negotiation and conflict resolution, problem solving, organizational skills and most of all leadership.
My careers include:
- Airline Marketer and Lobbyist,

both on a National and International level.
- Holiday Inn National Sales Director
- Edmonds Community College, Instructor
- Travel Consultant for Corporate and Group Convention Sales.
As an elected Kitsap County Commissioner I served in leadership positions:
- Washington State County Road Administration Board; 2nd Vice President
- Washington State Association of Counties; Western Region President
- Puget Sound Regional Council; GMA Policy Board Chair
- Kitsap Regional Coordinating Council; Chair
- Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority; Chair
- Kitsap County Health District; Chair for two years
- Hood Canal Coordinating Council
- Puget Sound Partnership Committee, appointed by the Governor
Throughout my four year term I interacted continuously with the Legislature in Olympia and Washington, DC, as well as testifying before City Councils, the Transportation Commission and the Washington State Ferry Board.
I developed knowledge of budgeting principles and practices through analysis and approval of two biannual budgets incorporating performance measures and establishing goals for each department director with a monitoring system to show progress. This made the county budget transparent and accountable to the citizens. We produced the first Annual Budget Report for the county.
Two special accomplishments include:
1) The Port Blakely 600 acre land acquisition, collaborating with the Cascade Land Conservancy, Conservation Futures and the Mountaineer’s Foundation;
2) Working with our Human Resources Department to create our Senior Supervisors Certification Program. This expanded managerial skills, updated our staff with the newly enacted laws, and retained our valued, long term employees.
As you see, I have the solid experience that make me uniquely qualified to lead the city as your next Mayor.
Although I don’t like labels, I am proud to be called a fiscal conservative. To me,
that describes my deep commitment to the wise expenditure of taxpayer’s money, coupled with a long-range plan to ensure Bremerton’s continued financial stability and growth.
Our city has come far in the past eight years. The previous administration has done a wonderful job developing our main corridor. I want to build on this growth but spread it out to all of our neighborhoods. rowth will benefit everyone only if it is distributed
throughout all parts of the city, not only downtown.
Like all small cities, Bremerton shares the problems that come in a difficult economy. While we want to move forward, we have to acknowledge the natural limits of our city’s finances. The issues that we all care about— health care, education, environment and economic growth— can only be resolved with additional funding by federal and state government.
Over the last decade, I have built solid, fruitful relations with state and congressional leaders that will allow me to successfully lobby for the critical funds to support our city’s health.
In coming weeks, you will hear more from me on the issues. I don’t have every answer to every issue—that’s why I am so interested in what you have to say. Those who have worked with me in the past will all agree, "Patty Lent is a listener".
As Mayor, I will make Bremerton the best that it can be, for all our us. By sharing your thoughts, your vision, Bremerton will grow, will improve, for everyone, large and small, young and old. I hope that you will join me in becoming part of the City’s new leadership.
