Dear Friends,
As you may have heard, I have announced my candidacy to become Mayor of Bremerton. Many of you have supported me in the past and are familiar with my qualifications.

Doug, my husband, and I have a family of five children and eight grandchildren.  He’s a third generation business leader in Kitsap County. I was a Tacoma resident until I moved to Bremerton twenty-one years ago. Doug and I have lived in the same house for over twenty years. Bremerton is our home.

In business, my career has been varied: travel consultant, mortgage banker, sales director, and national public relations spokesperson for a major airline. I have always been an active volunteer for local civic organizations including:

  • Bremerton Central Lions Club
  • Kiwanis Club (past president)
  • Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Zumwalt Guild
  • Bremerton-Olympic Peninsula Council of the U.S. Navy League
  • Olympic College Presidentís Advisory Committee
  • Kitsap Health District (past board chair)
  • West Sound American Red Cross Advisory Council
  • Boys and Girls Club Development (Board Member)
  • Leadership Kitsap Advisory Board
  • National Program of High School Business Education (advisor)
  • Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters’ Disability Board

I am seeking the position of Mayor for the City of Bremerton, where I am able to promote, create and/or develop programs whereby partnerships between private businesses, government agencies and all citizens can benefit from our efforts. Based on measurable actions, these efforts will be linked to a common set of goals with accountability on progress and expenditures of taxpayer dollars.

Here’s a quick overview of my qualifications.  The strengths of my leadership include integrity, constant ethical and political professionalism, effective oral and written communication skills and being a good listener. Extensive team management and human resource experience round out my personal and professional background.

As a commissioner, I served as chair of the Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority and vice chair of the Washington State County Road Administration Board.

I have learned to be resourceful and non confrontational or accusatory when working with elected officials from all cities and counties in the state. This has also served me well in the private sector where open communication and mutual respect is of the utmost importance.
